MAUI (video + pictures)

Choosing a favorite Hawaiian island is difficult.  If you asked me which island you should visit if you only have one option, I would say Maui.  I dream of being able to return to Maui because it offers so many different things and it's full of adventure.  But if you asked me which island I would live on, I would say the Big Island.  I dream, and one day I will, live on that island.

Bamboo forest, hiking through jungle, swimming in waterfalls all by ourself, watching the sunrise at 10,000ft, snorkeling with turtles, getting "mugged" by humpback whales.  I miss Maui so I put together some favorite videos and pictures of our times there.  We were not scuba certified at this time, so a goal is to return to Maui and scuba dive the back wall of Molokini crater!

camping 2019 + an upcoming trip

Eric and I first started talking about visiting Montana and Canada back in 2017!  We knew it would be a BIG trip that would require specific planning.  Especially because everything becomes booked at least 6 months in advance.  We set goals that included purchasing a larger vehicle, complete our list of camping essentials needed, camp as much as possible before, and become more comfortable with longer, more technical hikes.

We put it on the calendar for July 2019.

January 2019 snuck up really fast and we were booking our camping spots in GLACIER NATIONAL PARK and BANFF CANADA!  Our initial plan was to visit Banff and stop at Glacier "just to check it out" on our way.  I love planning/researching trips and it quickly became obvious that Glacier will be just as incredible as Banff.  We will be spending 6 nights in Glacier and 5 nights at Lake Louise in Banff camping!  The itinerary and plans are coming along very nicely.  I found fantastic facebook groups for people who are experienced with Glacier and Banff.  I'm feeling really good at the positive feedback about my planning haha.

We purchased our truck in September 2018 and our tent trailer in February 2019.  We do a new hike almost every Sunday.  And we have been camping every weekend since May 1st.  It has been very cold while sleeping at night and we have learned how to improve each trip.  We also have gone no matter what the weather has predicted because we can't control the weather on our trip and may need to be prepared for rain and maybe even snow.  So here are some pictures of our tent camper and our camping adventures so far!

The star of these camping trips has definitely been Molly.  She is so fun to take with us and SO GOOD.  Also, can we appreciate that I live in a desert but 45 minutes north it is cold and full of green pine trees?!
